Before your interview

Once we have your reference details and permission to send them, we’ll start requesting and chasing them.

In the meantime, we’ll send you an online application form to complete ahead of your interview.

Qualifications
If you want to teach, you’ll need a UK recognised teaching qualification and professional registration. If you don’t have a teaching qualification, you can still work in various qualified and unqualified support roles, such as a teaching assistant or cover supervisor.
UK right to work or working visa
If you don’t have a British passport, you will need to obtain a visa to work in the UK. The Youth Mobility Visa and Ancestry Visa are the most popular visas obtained - see the .gov website for more information
National police check & UK DBS
You will need a police check/certificate of good conduct, and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which needs to be registered with the Update Service. We will support you with getting both of these checks completed.
National Insurance (NI) number
When you arrive in the UK, you will need to apply for a NI number. This is used to make sure your NI contributions and tax are recorded against your name. We can help you apply for this when you get here
Professional references & LOPS
You’ll need a minimum of 2 professional references within the last 2 years and one of these must be from your last role working with children or vulnerable adults. If you are registered with any overseas teaching regulatory bodies, you’ll need to obtain a Letter of Professional Standing (LOPS)

Helping you find the perfect role

Edwin Education can help you secure temporary and permanent teaching and support roles in primary, secondary and special needs schools and other alternative provisions across England.

Daily supply

As the most flexible supply option, you tell us what days you want to work each week and we’ll find the work for you. Daily supply is mostly planned in advance, and you will work one or two days in a school, but there can be emergencies when we may ask you to work on the same day. You’ll often work in different schools each day and that’s what makes it exciting, as each day brings a fresh challenge.

Short-term

With any short-term absences, a supply worker may be needed for more than one day - perhaps a week, 10 days or two weeks. This type of supply is great for anyone who wants to spend a bit more time in a school, wants to avoid much of the after-school planning, but still wants flexibility and variety. In particular, early careers teachers can enjoy short-term supply to get a good grasp of a range of different schools.

Long-term

Usually booked in advance, long-term supply can be anything from six weeks or more. This is a brilliant option for those who want to get more in-depth experience or already know they like working with particular schools. With a long-term placement you’ll be able to see the progress you make with your students and take on more of the responsbilities that a permanent member of staff has.

Permanent jobs

If you’re looking for more continuity and stability, you may be better suited to a permanent role. You can gain a permanent job by working on a long-term assignment through us and being taken on permanently by the school (known as a temp to perm), or by us putting you forward for an interview with a school and being offered a permanent role.

Testimonials

We’re proud of what our
staff say about us

Signing on to a Guaranteed Pay Scheme with Edwin Education allowed me to teach in and explore areas all around London during the week, whilst giving me time on the weekends to explore the United Kingdom and Europe. I can't recommend it enough!

Shani Webb,
Primary Teacher from Australia

My work life was made so easy by working with Edwin Education. I've been able to explore so many different parts of London and get a true feel for what living and working in this city is like! It has been an amazing adventure so far - a time of my life I will never forget!

Kaitlyn Kidd,
Primary Teacher from Australia

When I decided to make the move, I didn't really know where to start, but that’s where Edwin Education came in. They guided me through the entire process. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone and making the move to the UK has by far been the best choice!

Carly Riddoch,
Primary Teacher from Australia

It’s been so fun to travel around London and visit different areas to teach. I’ve made great friends through the social events! I’m so glad I’ve had this experience to grow as a person and a teacher. And I’m so glad I had a great support network set up for me with Edwin Education - they made everything so easy and fun!

Claire Woodgate,
Primary Teachers from Australia

I loved where I worked, the school and staff became like a second home, and the Edwin Education office were always able to meet in person to share advice on my new country and the travel options nearby! I met incredible, life-long friends and gained travel memories from countries I never thought I would see. It was the best few years of my life and I highly recommend to anyone considering making the move!

Melissa Stamp,
Primary Teacher from Australia

I had no idea what to expect with a big move across the world to London, but when I was linked up with Edwin Education, they made my transition so smooth and easy. The team has been absolutely outstanding, and their communication and support has exceeded my expectations by far! I'm so grateful for Edwin Education.

Janie Ale,
Primary Teacher from New Zealand

Working abroad in London has been the best experience for sharpening my teaching skills and broadening my teaching network. When I arrived, Edwin Education took care of me from day one. I am so glad that I went to them to avoid any delays in starting work – I started work the very next day after I landed! This has been a year that I will never forget and has added to my CV and life experience.

Su Pheng Lim,
Primary Teacher from Australia

Edwin Education made the transition over to the UK very clear and easy and told me exactly what I needed to do. They have been really supportive in finding me work that is right for me too. I’m really excited for the next opportunities in supply teaching to see where it leads me.

Dylan Izzard,
Primary Teacher from Australia

Both staff in Australia and the UK were very supportive, friendly and great with their communication. They were in constant contact with me and quick to respond, which made the process quick, easy and stress free. I have absolutely loved my experience so far and Edwin Education has greatly aided in that.

Deborah King,
English/Humanities Teacher from Australia
