Vision for Education are recruiting for Autism Support Assistants for a SEND setting in Ribchester, working with students aged from 8-18 years old. The role is full time (Monday to Friday - hours are 8am-4pm daily) which will start in April 2026 and could result in a permanent contract from the setting following a qualifying period.

The role will be working as an additional support in the classroom, working with students in small groups and 1:1 with students with Autism alongside other complex learning needs to support them with both life based skills, alongside a flexible, tailored curriculum in the core subjects (English and Maths).

Autism Support Assistants are instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of any school. The most effective Autism Support Assistants have excellent communication skills and have an interest and passion in supporting the day-to-day needs of all children. They are also able to build relationships with both staff, children and their families.

The role of an Autism Support Assistant can vary from school to school but key elements of your day will be similar.

You may be working to support the teacher in while class teaching, running small group interventions to support children or working on a 1:1 basis to ensure the needs of all children are met and that they can thrive in the specific environment.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Autism Support Assistant you will:

  • Due to the rural location of the school, it is essential for the successful candidate to drive or have access to a vehicle daily due to limited public transport routes.
  • Have relevant experience of working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
  • Have a warm and friendly nature to be able to build positive relationships with pupils.

Salary

£450 to £500 per week

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

  • Desirable to have relevant prior experience of working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
  • Desirable to hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
