Vision for Education are recruiting for a Residential Support Worker on a temporary to permanent basis for a school setting in Ribchester from April 2026.

About the role

Residential Support Worker

Preston, Lancashire (Rural Location)
⏰ Full-Time | 40 hours per week (worked over 3 days, including evenings & weekends – 1 weekend in 3)
Recruiting via Vision for Education

Make a meaningful difference every day.

Vision for Education is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a specialist residential education setting for children and young people with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and resilient Residential Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting students both in their learning environment and within a nurturing residential setting.

Due to the rural location, all applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ day-to-day lives, helping them to develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills in a safe and structured environment.

This is a 40-hour role worked over 3 longer shifts per week, including evenings and participation in a 1-in-3 weekend rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and emotional support to students in a residential setting

  • Support students with daily routines such as morning preparation, mealtimes, and bedtime

  • Encourage independence, social development, and positive behaviour

  • Assist with educational engagement and reinforce learning outside the classroom

  • Plan and participate in recreational and social activities

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans and progress reports

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model

  • Work collaboratively with education and care teams to ensure holistic support

What We’re Looking For

  • A caring, patient, and resilient individual with a passion for supporting young people

  • Previous experience in care, education, or support work is desirable but not essential

  • Ability to work flexibly across long shifts, including evenings and weekends

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to rural location)

What’s on Offer

  • A structured working pattern (40 hours across 3 days)

  • A supportive and collaborative team environment

  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

  • The chance to make a genuine, lasting impact on young people’s lives
