Primary Support Assistant
Stroud
Full Time | Part Time | Term Time
A welcoming primary school in the Stroud area is looking for a Primary Support Assistant to join their team, working closely with pupils who need additional support to access learning and feel confident in the classroom.
This role involves a mix of 1:1 and small group support, helping children with a range of needs including SEND, SEMH, autism and ADHD. You’ll play a key role in supporting behaviour, building confidence and helping pupils stay engaged throughout the school day.
You’ll be working alongside experienced teachers and SEN staff, following tailored strategies and contributing to a positive, structured learning environment.
What you’ll be doing
• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Helping children manage emotions, behaviour and classroom routines
• Supporting learning across different subjects and activities
• Encouraging confidence, independence and engagement
• Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to adapt support where needed
What we’re looking for
• Someone patient, reliable and able to build strong relationships
• Experience with SEND, SEMH, behaviour support or similar is desirable
• Backgrounds in education, care, youth work or coaching are all relevant
• Confident supporting children who may find school challenging
• Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
• Committed to safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing
