About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the school's Communication & Interaction unit. The Team within the unit will support children with speech, language and communication needs. The unit is situated on the school site and is part of the school community. The children within the unit will benefit from an enriched and needs- specific learning environment but will also spend time learning within the mainstream setting. This small-scale approach gives pupils with speech, language and communication needs a real opportunity to thrive and achieve their potential.

In this role, you will support students in their learning and development by promoting academic progress, encouraging independence, and nurturing their emotional, social, and physical wellbeing. You will work closely with the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo to contribute to annual reviews, family meetings, and external referrals, while also helping to maintain accurate SEND records and the SEND Register.

You will assist in the development and implementation of EHCP outcomes and use data analysis to identify students who are underachieving, helping to create and deliver effective support plans. You’ll also provide guidance to staff on teaching strategies tailored to individual needs and work collaboratively to ensure inclusive practices are embedded across the curriculum.

A key part of your role will involve supporting the Access Arrangements Coordinator by liaising with staff, students, and external professionals to gather and maintain evidence for access arrangements. You will lead reading interventions, including their delivery, assessment, and monitoring.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Northampton HLTA you will:

Have experience or working in a school or similar setting in the last 3 years (6 months minimum)

Hold a HLTA or equivalent qualification.

Have experience of working with children with SEND
