Are you an experienced tutor with strong subject knowledge in Maths and Science? Do you have the skills to engage and inspire students who may have struggled in mainstream education?

We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and resilient Maths & Science Tutor to join our team at BEP Romford, supporting learners within an alternative provision setting. This is a rewarding but demanding role, ideal for someone who understands the complexities of working with students with SEN, SEMH needs, or those at risk of exclusion.


About the Role

  • Deliver high-quality Maths and Science sessions (KS2–KS4, including GCSE support)
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet a wide range of needs, including SEN, SEMH, and EHCP targets
  • Use creative and flexible teaching strategies to re-engage disengaged learners
  • Provide 1:1 and small group tuition in a structured, supportive environment
  • Manage behaviour effectively using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches
  • Track, assess, and report on student progress against academic and personal targets
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external professionals


Essential Requirements

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and Science (up to GCSE level minimum)
  • Proven experience working with SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision students
  • Confidence in differentiating work to support a wide range of abilities and needs
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing ️
  • Ability to remain calm, resilient, and adaptable in a dynamic environment


Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant tutoring/education qualification ‍
  • Experience working within PRUs, alternative provisions, or outreach settings
  • Knowledge of exam boards and GCSE curriculum requirements
